1. A documentary on the redundancies of the civilian core of the UK Police Service, the issues this has created and the overall issue of understaffed public services.
PROS:
- Moving and interesting content.
- Relevant to society, reflects and comments upon it.
- Know people in the institution, perhaps meaning easier access.
CONS:
- Might be difficult getting permission on such a delicate subject.
- May not be allowed to film inside Government property.
- Is it enough for a 30-40 minute film?
2. A documentary on the "issue" of immigration. What is the truth? What are we being told? What aren't we being told? Possible solutions to the "issue".
PROS:
- A subject that generate a lot of discussion
- Clear and representable arguments with a large amount of people with first hand experience
CONS:
- Could be easily mis-represented by us if we do not research in meticulous detail, allowing a lot of room for unintentional error and insult, which would struggle against ethical rules of Uni. (Racism etc)
- People may not be willing to converse about their personal stories, making it difficult to get accurate data.
3. A documentary following stories that aren't readily covered or don't usually see. Such as: Binmen, Long-distance Haulers, Graffiti Artists, Scrap Metal Artists.
PROS:
- Could potentially be very interesting and make for great filming.
- New information for audience = interested audience.
CONS:
- Could be misrepresented
- Some issues (graffiti artists) include illegal acts and risk breaking the OFCOM regulations.
- Some may not be actually all that interesting after all, so there's a risk of making a boring film!
4. LARPING! Live action role-playing.
PROS:
- A topic not readily covered.
- Recent hype due to Role Models
- Relatively easy to execute
- I have contact info already
- Joining in. Participatory mode
CONS:
- Pull outs
- Travel?
- Not much cons really.

Forum for events in 2013!
This is a larping documentary based on Character Creation, we could do one following the whole process (THE JOURNEY!) by either joining ourselves, becoming the primary and participatory mode, or follow a player that has become involved recently. Events are going on constantly. There are hundreds of different factions, different styles different rules depending on where you LARP. It's huge and very easy to make a 30 minute interesting documentary. |
