WEEK 11 7th DECEMBER MINUTES
Toby you need to do write ups on your photo journalism page as you didnt have one before so i made you one. This needs to be done asap. Your new media application page is practically empty and it needs a lot added.
Taylor theres nothing on your technical exercise page? put up ypur technical photos. a few more photos need to be added to the photo jouralism page and itll be great. add more to your new media application its pretty bare.

WEEK 10 MINUTES
This message was issued to the group from John Bird:
"I will finish more on Web 2.0 pormotion by tomorrow night.
- Furhter research needs to be added to as i know taylor is.- Analysing media inudstry needs to be bulked up ALOT more who ever has been assigned that.
- Technical design is perfect thanks matt and mike for camera and lighting breakdowns.
- Documentary Process is coming along, kuda we'll need a couple more different documentary styles reviewed like you have done with the embedded video; its looking good, just need more.
INDIVIDUAL PAGES NEED UPDATING ASAP!!!
- Kuda Mutinta you need to change your page layout, look at mine and mikes for example. You also need to remove the following pages: documentary ideas and research (cause we have a group one), documentary process and technical design. ADD a Flickr button and a page updates page to neaten everything up. And generally change your layout. You need to make a new media application page and put all work on it.
- Taylor Harvey remove all un-needed pages on your page: Furthe research, critical reading, documentary process, professional practice, documentary ideas. REMOVE AL THESE PAGES they are all group tabs now. Layout your page to how mine and mikes looks, add a page updates page. REMOVE YOUR PHOTOS from your page and place them in the correct page.

WEEK 9 MINUTES
- A serious discussion has been held between the group, John created a list of jobs following from the message in week 8 for everyone to do to bring the website up to scratch with information, research and all aspects of knowledge from the subject.
- A meeting has been arranged for Tuesday 20th November to finalise all the changes that will have been made by each member of the group to our website.
- Toby has written a letter to our primary discussing our desire to have him as our main focus in our documentary.
1. Michael - Database Documentary - Have a read through the module handguide on the LN to get an idea and can you write up on this page all the copyright rules and regulations, competitions, forums, legal issues, rights to reply, university rules and ethics issues, copyright, creative commons, budgets. And quote some sections from Ofcom rules and regs that apply to our work on this page. And write up your critical reviews.
2. Toby - Analysing, image media and industry - (everyone will be adding to this page) can you write up the practitioners, movements and styles and their respective influences on wider cultural, political, artistic and social dynamics should be analysed in relationship to the group's project. Can you get it started off and everyone can follow suit in your style.
3. Matt - Technical Design, can you create a deconstruction of a DSLR camera, how it works, its pros, its cons, what each bit does in exact detail from the camera with images of the camera and points coming off of it explaining what each bit does, do the same with a DV camera and explain why our documentary requires a DSLR and how we will execute it to its full potential. And different techniques (2 media promotion examples) we will use to promote our documentary.
4. Taylor - Further Research on Specific Topics - (we will all be adding to this page) can you look over each week we have had a lecture on wednesday and write up what we studied and look into added research on each specific topic and write up all your findings on each piece of work, will will add to this but if you get the basis off and running we can follow. And write up your critical reviews.
5. Kuda - Documentary Process - (Again we will all add to this as a group) Write up on the page all research and knowledge on different styles of documentary, 5 different modes of documentary, different styles from mockumentary and docudrama etc, show all sources of information and look into website likes docurama.com you need to be covering aspects from styles, camera work, history, practitioners, techniques, online delivery, media outlets, interviews, question structures, aims and objectives and pre and post production. If you write a large chunk of it we will add to it and follow your style. And write up your critical review.6. Me - Ive revamped the website and written up on the web 2.0 page and I have written up on the synopsis page, I will be looking into research to add to the analysing media industry, further research and documentary process to add to Taylors Tobys and Kudas work. I will be updating more on the minutes page. Ill also look into updating the site as much as possible." - John Bird
WEEK 8 MINUTES (MEETING 1)
- 3 designs of the superhero have been created by John and they were shown to the group, the third idea was the favourite one and will be uploaded to the website this week.
- Roles have been re-discussed, because some of the roles are not as important or as big as other roles. Roles will be finalised by the end of week 8 and the start of week 9.
- All primaries have been contacted and no word back as of yet. The producer Toby and the director John have contacted all people, we still have more numbers to ring and journalists to ask. We have other people to ring to get a hold of our primaries which will be contacted by the end of the week.
WEEK 7 MINUTES
- All photoessays were uploaded, the group went through each persons photos and touched one what we felt was good, what our favourite photos were, we helped each other to touch on the technical aspect side and how to write up about our photos.
- We went through the updated website with the new background, new headers.
- We discussed what documentaries we watched and went through which reviews were uploaded to the site.
- Yet to arrange a group review of a documentary.
UPDATE FOR DOCUMENTARY
- The director projected an idea for the documentary that creates an aspect of participatory mode: we will create our own superhero and take it to the streets and help those less fortunate than us. Giving essentials to homeless people including deodorant, toothbrush and paste, clean clothes. Also helping out people who may need it, elderly folk. This also gives us space to incorporate our second unit if we manage to get the chance. For example: if someone gets hurt or injured, or if trouble starts out on the streets, our crew may get involved.
- We also discussed names for our superhero, we then came to the conclusion we shall design a costume for the hero and show it to the public and get them to choose a name for him. Therefore promoting our documentary and gaining more publicity whilst involving the public in our documentary.
WEEK 6 MINUTES
- The majority of the group finished and uploaded their photo essay, some are still waiting on.
- We decided who was going to update what on the website regarding: background, layout, headers, style, font.
- We checked through each individuals page to filter through what has been uploaded and what needs to be uploaded: critical reviews, documentary views and deconstructions, photographers reviews and critical reflection.
- Our D.O.P Matt, volunteered to create the background style of the Marvel Superhero comic, the director John then chose to create the headers per page to match the overall style of the website.
- We stressed the point that al photo essays and technical aspects NOT uploaded must have them uploaded or a formal meeting will be held to discuss the performances.
- Some members of the group discussed what documentaries they have watched and some of us offered to others what documentary they felt everyone should watch and review.
WEEK 5 MINUTES
- UPDATE ON DOCUMENTARY
- We as a group decided to drop the idea of the cult and religion as it was going to be hard to execute, travel-wise and the primaries will not be reliable.
- We changed our idea to now follow the lives of Superheroes.
- The director, John, suggested to watch the documentary 'Superheroes' directed by Mark Bennet to gain a perspective of the concept we wish to film.
- Also newspaper articles were read through on previously interviewed superheroes in the UK. Including 'The Statesman' in Birmingham
and 'The Dark Spartan' who patrols the streets of Torbay.
- The group then decided that we were to locate where to find these people and get contact information from them and make them our primaries.
- We all talked through our photo essay ideas and who has already shot them, who needs to, how it is coming along.
WEEK 4 MINUTES
- The group discussed ideas for the documentary and came to a final decision to follow the idea of different strange and weird cults and religions.
- The travelling issue was discussed with the fact we may have an extensive travel cost due to the cults being situated in different parts of the UK and other countries. The financial and physical toll was discussed with the fact that travelling is expensive and exhausting.
- We all went through roles again to make sure everyone was okay and happy with what role they have.
- We set a date that all photo essays MUST be uploaded to the site by - the end of week 6 LATEST.
- We discussed each persons photo essay and when it will be done by and how they are going to execute each photo with technical precision.
- The group talked about what documentaries we feel we should review and watch, we decided to watch some documentaries individually and as a group so we can take different aspects from different directors to put into our own project. We all decided we need to watch them together as well so we can deconstruct them and review them to put ideas up on the site as well.
