New Media Applications
Practitioners are forever searching for new and unique ways to promote and apply their media to the market. AS such this had led to a surge of new media applications. For example: viral internet marketing, QR Scan codes, Social Networking and publicity stunts. Below I consider what new media applications we can utilise in our film.
Social Networking: Every film these days has a standard social networking core: Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. We have already utilised these with a JMUK Studios page for each. However an idea we could run with is having a specific page for the film not just the company. This way the consumer would not only get a unique page dedicated to the film, but also a sense of professionalism. To further utilise the social networking sites we could encourage our viewers to share images and other forms of advertisements on Facebook. These could be costume ideas, members of the already growing superhero scene and other thing s of that nature. Also we could get the consumer involved in polls voting for names of our hero; who their favourite comic book superhero/real life superhero is etc. We can get our film 'trending' on Twitter using hashtags. Also constantly 'tweeting' about progress on the film will be beneficial. Youtube could house all of our production videos. Behind the scenes videos and a photoessay of the production stills. But first and foremost be the exhibitor of our trailer, next to mediastorm. | ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Specifically the page with the trailer on, allowing the consumer to search the website at their leisure with minimum effort on their part. In today's society ease of use is one of the main contributing factors to audience interest, and QR Scan codes are the perfect for this. |
Publicity Stunts: In order to decide on the design of our costume/hero name, and primarily to advertise and create awareness of the film, one stunt we plan to carry out is to dress up as our superhero and walk about different towns and citys interviewing people on their thoughts of the costume and their general thoughts on real life superheroes. Not only would this in itself create publicity for the film, but we will also have leaflets, posters and possibly badges to hand out with all the viewing information needed written on them. Furthermore the video content could go on our Youtube page as well. | ![]() |
