Independent funding
when starting out your need funding often this can come from doing free lance work but another way is by getting funding. Of course your idea has to be good enough to deserve to be funded, with every micro detail taken into account. But with a good enough pitch and a idea that can work you can get funding if you talk to the right people
Indiegogo.com is one the biggest fund raiser out there and how it works is that you put a trailer/promo of your work supported with other forms of work and people donate to support your documentary. So not only do you get funding you know that people want to see your film made.
the second one is crowdfunder.com it works on same princeable as indiegogo but instead appeals to a European market and it also allows you to create a pitch and use social networking sites. You simply put your pitch on line and if it is good enough people give a little and a lot of people giving you a little can lead to a whole lot.
